Science, Technology and Telecommunications
Congress currently appropriates $140 billion+ per year in science and technology programs. These programs are administered by departments and agencies including the departments of Defense; Homeland Security; Energy, Health and Human Services (including the National Institutes of Health); Agriculture; and Commerce; as well as the National Science Foundation; NASA and the Environmental Protection Agency.
At The Livingston Group, we help clients compete for these funds and advocate new and expanded policies for research and development projects. Here, research, development, demonstration programs and their linkage to government missions are well understood. Our team includes experienced lobbyists and consultants with in-depth knowledge about the federal government’s investments and programs in science, technology, and telecommunications.
The high technology sector is an important driver for US competitiveness. Federal investments in defense, aerospace, information technology, telecommunications, materials, biotechnology, security, next generation energy concepts and university training of our scientists and engineers are examples of how important this segment is to our nation’s future.
TLC represents associations, universities, societies, and both large and small high technology companies engaged in work at some of the government’s most innovative research agencies and laboratories. Our team includes members with direct government and corporate experience in defense, energy, materials, electronics, software, chemicals, healthcare, telecommunications and biotechnology.
Telecommunications policy continues to be a dynamic legislative and regulatory area. Lead issues include the public and private wireless spectrum, net neutrality conditions, rural broadband availability, public safety systems, security protocols, satellite provisions, and the convergence of voice, data, and video. Our consulting and lobbying client experience has involved telecommunications policy with satellite broadcast, telephone and internet providers.
