TLG and its consultant resource base feature a number of professionals with extensive experience in energy and natural resources policy: Director: Steven L. Kreseski -- Leads TLG with dual responsibilities: Chief Operating Officer and Director of Energy Practice Area. As Chief of Staff to former Maryland Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. he supervised development of major Chesapeake Bay environmental initiatives and alternative energy programs. As Chief of Staff and Legislative Director to Representative Ehrlich, who was assigned to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Mr. Kreseski worked on signature Brownfield and electricity deregulation legislation. He served as legislative assistant to Senator Larry Pressler (R-SD), a member of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. Mr. Kreseski also represented the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and petrochemical industries as the Legislative Director for a major Washington-based trade association. He worked closely with numerous states and the EPA on toxic chemical, emissions and packaging standards. TLG Team // Honorable Bob Clement -- Former eight-term Congressman from Tennessee’s fifth District. He served as a ranking member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Clement worked on the Railroad, Highways and Mass Transit; Aviation Subcommittees; and Water Resources Subcommittees. He also served on the House Budget Committee giving him significant insight into funding procedures in Congress. He made global contacts through his work on the International Affairs Committee. In his travels associated with the Tourism Caucus, he promoted trade and tourism for the U.S. Honorable E. Thomas Coleman -- Former Ranking Member on the House Agriculture Committee and its Subcommittee on Conservation and Credit. Served as Vice President, Government Relations for BASF Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of the world’s largest chemical company. Honorable Dennis M. Hertel -- Mr. Hertel is a former Democrat Member of Congress from Michigan. He chaired the Subcommittee of Oceanography, Great Lakes and Outer Continental Shelf and served on the Coast Guard Subcommittee. Since retiring from Congress in 1993, he has been engaged in government relations and private law practice representing clients on a wide array of legislative matters including energy, environment and natural resources. Mr. Hertel has served on the National Environmental Policy Institute as Vice President. Honorable Ron P. Klink -- Former Ranking Member of the powerful Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee of Energy and Commerce. Klink also served on the Telecommunications and Energy Subcommittee of Energy and Commerce. Honorable Anthony J. Moffett -- Former Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy, Environment and Natural Resources. Honorable William H. Zeliff, Jr.-- Former House Deputy Whip. Martin Cancienne -- Chief of Staff to House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Billy Tauzin, Mr.Cancienne will focus primarily on appropriations, agriculture, health and education matters, energy and environmental issues, and Corps of Engineers projects. His extensive background and experience on the local, state, and federal level brings valuable knowledge and understanding in these areas. Terence Costello -- Directed nationwide communications programs dealing with oil, gas, and coal leasing and strip mining as deputy public affairs director at the Interior Department’s Bureau of Land Management and the Office of Surface Mining. Served as an energy and minerals analyst with Washington-based investment firm. Was responsible for the Department of Energy nuclear waste and funding and policy issues for nuclear weapons environmental cleanup programs as a staffer with the House Armed Services Committee. David Dumke -- Former legislative director to Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman John Dingell (D-Michigan). Hill positions also included stints with Reps. Debbie Stabenow (D-Michigan) and Rep. Fred Upton (R-Michigan). His areas of expertise include foreign policy, public relations, and Congress – including work on appropriations, commerce, defense, energy, foreign affairs, trade, and transportation issues. Bruce Hatton -- Former Vice President and General Manager of Washington Operations for McDermott International, the New Orleans-based energy services company with worldwide operations and facilities. Mr. Hatton also held a number of positions in both the public and private sectors, including Vice President of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and a principal strategist with the business coalition formed to gain Congressional approval of the North American Free Trade Agreement. Mark Maddox -- Served as Deputy Director of Communications under President George H.W. Bush. And, under the present Bush Administration, Maddox managed high profile initiatives as Acting Assistant Secretary of Fossil Energy at the Department of Energy. For example: the 21-nation Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum, the Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle Power Plant development and the Alaska Natural Gas Pipeline. He also served as chief of staff for Congressman Nathan Deal (R-GA), a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee. Ron McMurray -- Previously served as Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne’s representative in DC and the principal federal lobbyist for Idaho’s business and trading partners. His experience is grounded in the western United States, and includes energy and natural resources, transportation and international trade He served as President of the Columbia / Snake River Marketing Group and Vice President of the Pacific Northwest Waterway’s Association and created the Pioneer Ports River Alliance, a coalition seeking scientific solutions to the declining anadromous fish population and to the water borne implications on hydropower and stream flow due to the implementation of the Endangered Species Act. Michael D. Ryan -- Prior to TLG, Major General Ryan held the position of Executive Vice President Government Business for Rolls-Royce in North America. He was responsible for furthering the company’s business interests and relationships with the Executive and Legislative branches of the United States and Canada. Ryan was also instrumental in the establishment of a fuel cells business here in the United States and, until leaving the company, was a member of the Board of Directors of Rolls-Royce Fuel Systems, USA, Inc. Marjorie Strayer -- Former Chief of Staff to New Mexico Congresswoman Heather Wilson who serves on the Energy and Commerce and Armed Services Committee. Through her political and congressional experience, Marjorie has built strong relationships with key members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. William R. Teator -- A policy adviser and spokesman to late House Rules Committee Chairman Jerry Solomon, Teator has closely followed the complex federal electric utility restructuring proposals surfacing since the mid 1990s. He helped orchestrate unprecedented emergency funding for NE utilities impacted by a devastating ice storm in the region. Michael J. “Mike” Toohey -- Former Vice President of Government Affairs for Ashland Inc., a global chemical, energy and construction company. During his 19 years with the Ashland, he served as the principle representative to the federal government and also supervised state government relations for this Fortune 500 Corporation. His responsibilities also included leadership positions as the Chair of the American Chemistry Council’s Federal Legislative Roundtable and Chairman of the Board of the American Highway Users Alliance, and Board positions with the Waterways Council.
