"Kings of the Hill" identifies Bob Livingston as one whom experts, current lawmakers and K Street judge to be one of the top lobbyists.
"Former members get a rude shock if they turn up at a lobbying shop expecting to print free money.  (Former U.S. Representative Bob Livingston, R-La., told The Hill newspaper at a policy breakfast)...former members have to 'work' their access. They have to be able to marshal facts and make a persuasive case for what they seek.  Passing a bar exam does not make you a good trial lawyer; similarly, you aren't automatically a great lobbyist just because you used to get elected by voters."

Postwar Persuaders
"There’s been plenty of work for a number of lawyers, lobbyists, and consultants. For example, the Livingston Group, which has represented Turkey in Washington for three years for a fee of $1.8 million per year, acted as an intermediary, conveying Turkey’s concerns to officials at the State and Defense Departments and to members of Congress. Further, the Livingston Group has worked to make sure that the Turkish government understood how badly the Bush administration wanted Turkey’s help.”
